Recommendations to decarbonise Ireland’s built environment for Budget 2026
This document sets out a series of recommendations to decarbonise Ireland’s built environment while tackling the housing crisis and addressing the issue of inflation in construction. In times of climate and biodiversity emergency, all governments’ expenditure and fiscal policies must align with the objectives of reaching carbon neutrality by 2050.
Our recommendations for Budget 2026 fall under the following headings:
- Create ambitious regeneration policies to better support vibrant city, town, and village centres
- Make high-quality deep energy renovation more affordable and accessible
- Support the development of innovative, low-carbon technologies and materials
- Ensure all new homes built in Ireland are truly sustainable.
