Helena McElmeel Architects (HME) is an award winning RIAI registered architectural practice based in Galway City, specialising in passive and low energy, sustainable buildings and retrofit of existing buildings.

The practice was awarded the Sustainability Award in the Building and Architect of the Year Awards 2017, Social Impact Award in 2023 (Ennistymon Enhancement Strategy), Green Practice of the Year Award in 2024 and was commended in the RIAI Irish Architecture Awards 2023 (Ennistymon Enhancement Strategy). The practice has been contributing to Construct Innovate INDICATE Project, carried out in cooperation with IGBC, a new data initiative to drive full decarbonisation of Ireland’s built environment. Helena’s design work was commended in the RIAI Architecture Awards Public Space category in 2012
