SOLAS is the state agency responsible for overseeing Further Education and Training (FET) in Ireland, playing a key role in building a world-class FET sector. Established in 2013 under the Further Education and Training Act, SOLAS works closely with Education and Training Boards (ETBs) and Regional Skills managers to deliver a range of programmes, including apprenticeships, traineeships, and upskilling initiatives like Skills to Advance. SOLAS also manages health and safety certification schemes and provides data and analysis to support Ireland’s skills development. Its programmes, often co-funded by the European Social Fund, aim to empower learners for success in the labour market and society.
